Saeco Technology in Three Espresso Machines

100Saeco is a leader in the espresso manufacturing industry. Once known as Estro, it is now produces top-of-the-line espresso machines and coffeemakers that are aesthetically eye pleasing, are easy to use, and are all top quality. This trend is seen with the new Saeco Xelsis Digital ID, the Royal Professional and the Vienna Plus, which is a newer version of the Vienna Digital. These three top of the line espresso machines will be discussed here.

The Saeco Xelsis Digital ID is built to impress, thanks to a stainless steel body and stunning chrome-plated accents. It is one of the best high-end super automatics with top-of-the-line components from beginning to end. An airtight sealed lid hopper with anti-UV coating keeps the beans fresher before being ground by the ceramic burr grinder. The Saeco Brewing System allows you to choose the strength and consistency of your coffee by turning a dial. It also has a pre-infusion, which can be turned from off to on or lengthened to suit your taste. A 54 ounce removable water tank includes an Intenza water filter has two stainless steel boilers ensure there is always water at the right temperature for brewing, steaming, or dispensing hot water. The Saeco Xelsis Digital ID has a streamlined, user-friendly design with an animated integrated fingerprint reader touch-screen interface for 6 user profiles for 6 personal custom beverages. Six cups can be stored on the metal drip tray as well. An automatic turn-on and energy save function keeps the Digital ID from wasting power. Included accessories are a manual and a removable milk carafe, lubricant for the brew group and a variety of helpful cleaning tools. The removable milk carafe automatically froths milk into your cup and will automatically clean itself after each use. It can also be used to keep milk in the refrigerator between uses. For micro-foam it has a separate steaming/hot water wand (with no panarello) that has strong steam press. The Saeco Xelsis Digital ID is ideal for business or home use for those who have simple technological skills and is backed with an extended two-year parts and labor warranty.

The Saeco Royal Professional can also be used as a professional espresso machine without any problems. It is made to run on standard 120 volt current and is a super-automatic espresso machine. That is, you can select how much espresso to dispense with three buttons that program it to grind the coffee beans to a pre-set size of grind from coarse to very fine or by-pass and use pre-ground coffee. It then measures the right dose of ground beans and tampers the grounds, creates a thick crema espresso and deposits the spent grounds, called a puck, into an internal dump box. You can also use the LCD display that indicates when to add beans, water, decalcify, and when to adjust the brew group. For an individual taste, you can select how much espresso to dispense with three buttons to program exactly how you want your espresso. If you prefer to have a cappuccino you can immediately steam with the Panarello wand for frothing milk in a pitcher or cup while the Cappuccinatore extracts milk from a container, froths it, and then dispenses it into a cup for you. The Cappuccinatore comes as an accessory to the Royal Professional, but is a must for cappuccinos and frothed espresso drinks. One other important feature allows you to adjust the temperature of your coffee with 5 different settings: maximum, minimum, high, medium, and low.

The Saeco Vienna Plus is a super-automatic espresso machine that uses a system of sensors and lights to help you monitor the brewing process and signal when the machine needs to be re-supplied with water or coffee beans. It has a special pre-infusion program that increases the flavor and aroma and will extract espresso and steam milk in about 7 seconds. It also has a conical type burr grinder that grinds whole beans from 6 to 9 grams, which is controlled by a knob in the bean hopper. However, it does not like oily beans and it does not have a by-pass doser like the Royal Professional. Strength and volume of your coffee or espresso is controlled with a dial. This less expensive super automatic espresso machine has a 57 ounce water tank and offers hot water for tea other coffee beverages like that of the other super automatics. The Vienna Plus has an integrated dump box for spent coffee grounds, which can hold up to 20 expended coffee portions.

Each of these super automatic espresso machines offers a different level of making espressos, coffee and more. They also require different levels of technological skills, but with the more advanced skills come more commercial value, more help and longer warranties. Each one also exemplifies part of a progression of advanced technology in the art of making espresso machines starting from the top.

Housework Is Easier Thanks To Technology And I Still Hate It – Part 2

99“Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing.” –Phyllis Diller

Some people like housework and some don’t. Most women today are not turned on by the H word because they find it to be a dull, endless and thankless job, one which requires no serious thought or deliberation. Their main gripe is that, with so much to do, they never have time for themselves. This is the same for men who have to perform household chores, they’re just not accused of complaining as much as women, but we all know that this isn’t the case. In this, part 2 of a 3 part series, we’ll explore the role of homemaker in today’s world, no matter which sex holds the title.

As a result of today’s poor economy, many women are going back to work, taking their careers to new heights. In some family situations, when a mate loses his job or decides to attempt self-employment, women have had to seek employment outside of the home, working unpredictable hours. Many women who pursue careers find it difficult to leave their work role at work so they can enjoy quality time with their family at home. They certainly don’t look forward to going home so they can do domestic chores, their weekends filled up by a to-do list. Nonetheless, they continue to feel responsible for their family’s well-being, so they make adjustments to their schedule.

Most women take interest in the decorating of their homes, giving their personal attention to such tasks with relatively small amounts of money. Because the working woman is in a better financial position, she is perfectly willing to pay for the services of a cleaning lady on a weekly or bi-monthly basis. But this is not always the case. In this 21st century, as a result of the economy, sex roles in many American homes have switched. The wife becomes the bread-winner while her unemployed husband stays home to keep house. In order to save on babysitting expenses, the unemployed spouse becomes Mr. Mom, the multitasking parent, and his wife gets the high paying job.

Mr. Mom is in his glory, all of the latest modern appliances in his home, within reach of his fingertips, and HOUSEWORK? Is this what she was always bitching about? It’s a piece of cake. Mr. Mom gets it down to a science. He even finds time to watch ESPN while folding the laundry or vacuuming the floors as he wipes runny noses and changes stinky diapers. He can whip up a home cooked meal instead of a microwaved one. So when Mrs. Dad comes home, supper’s ready, homework’s done, and the kids are all in bed, bathed. She is quite surprised and loves this turn of events. Men are just as capable of taking care of their kids, folding the laundry and cleaning the bathrooms. Of course, the more men share in the burden of child care and housework, the more they become stressed out and ticked off.

“Don’t push your luck lady.”

Now that Mrs. Dad has relaxed a bit and is feeling quite refreshed, after a few glasses of wine and the aroma of burning candles, she looks forward to a moment of great passion. What is Mr. Mom’s response? “Not today honey, I have a headache. I’m just too tired for sex.” Doesn’t that sound familiar ladies?

Since we are on the subject of housework, I thought it would be an opportune moment to take a backward glance at the history of some of those products that have made Housework easier. For example, doing laundry today might not be fun, but the success of laundering in the nineteenth century relied on BACK-BREAKING ARM POWER.

Advancement in technology is constantly playing a significant role in our daily lives. As a result of modern technology, we are able to live our lives in an easier fashion, enjoying more comfort. There have been many changes since the 19th Century. The most notable change was the easing of housework drudgery thanks to new household appliances.

In the final part of this 3 part series, we’ll explore the history of inventions that have helped make the H word an easier task, even though no one ever really wants to do housework.

An Environmental Remediation Technology

98Environmental remediation can be a particularly tough subject to pin down. It is an extensive field, and not many people know, or even care to know, about it.

Look, how many of your real life friends are familiar with the term “environmental remediation”? Some? A few? None? I’d go with the latter.

Environmental remediation is important because it directly affects our treatment of our natural surroundings. It is the branch of science that deals with the removal of contaminants or pollution from environmental media such as surface water, sediment, groundwater and soil. For what? For the general protection and benefit of human health.

Remediation is a widely practiced principle around the world under various government agencies, each with their own series of regulatory requirements and precautions.

Some of the most common and well-known environmental remediation technologies are dredging and excavation, SEAR or surfactant enhanced aquifer remediation, pump and treat, stabilization and solidification, in situ oxidation, and others like bioremediation.

One of the most complex and sophisticated type of environmental remediation is the soil vapor extraction, or SVE.

Soild Vapor Extraction
Soil vapor extraction is a type of remediation technology used for treating contaminated soil, as its name implies. Another similar but different type of remediation technology is the MPE or Multi-Phase Extraction, which is used for treating soil and groundwater but different from SVE in that both methods utilizes different types of technologies.

Soil vapor extraction is broken up into three different types:

1. Granular activated carbon – Granular activated carbon (or GAC) is a technology used as a filter for water or air. GACs are commonly seen in household sinks used for filtering tap water. It is not effective in filtering heavy metals from the water, though.

2. Thermal oxidation – Thermal oxidation is another kind of technology, yet also effective. But this approach has since proven controversial since it releases dioxins into the atmosphere as exhaust gas.

3. Vapor condensation – Vapor condensation is considered the most effective type of treatment technology around (off-gas) for high concentration vapor streams. This technology is also sometimes called cryogenic cooling and compression.

Soil vapor extraction is one of the more complex type of environmental remediation technologies around, but it also means it’s one of the most effective. It is a technology carried out by experts on the field, environmental remediation engineers and scientists, and if you have reason to doubt the contamination level of your soil, it’s best to contact your local agency to conduct a test on your property.

Zojirushi Coffee Makers Review

97Setting an industry benchmark for new vacuum insulation technology in an everyday household product, the Zojirushi Corporation began its operation with its first glass-lined vacuum bottle 90 years ago. It is firmly establishing itself as a company which uses cutting edge technology to bring convenience to its customers worldwide.

Zojirushi sees to it that every product they launch is aimed at improving their customer’s quality of life through their creation of innovative equipments. For 9 decades, the company has impressed the industry with their advanced technology apparent in their household appliances line-up. Each piece, both for outdoor and indoor use, is designed to fit the needs and the demand of today’s active lifestyle. Some of their products include easy-to-use rice cookers, compact electric water boilers, beverage dispensers and a variety of stainless steel vacuum bottles.

It is not a common knowledge, but the phrase “vacuum insulated bottles” is a fancy term for coffee and tea makers. And the Zojirushi company is specifically popular for this. From glass-lined Air Pot beverage dispensers to durable stainless steel vacuum servers, easy-to-serve Gravity Pot dispensers to electric boilers and warmers, Zijorushi has almost a century’s experience to create such products.

The Zojirushi coffee makers captured the appeal of most coffee lovers because Zojirushi, by virtue of its technology, is able to keep coffee fresh for a few more minutes compared to other coffee makers. And we all know that cold coffee means bad coffee because brewed coffee is only fresh for minutes. But the best thing about Zojirushi is its thermal carafe that can keep coffee hot for hours without the danger of burning the coffee itself. It also comes with a timer module ready for preset as far as brewing is concerned.

With a company that has been in the business for nearly a century, you are assured that each product has gone through a lot of improvement. From a once simple piece of insulated bottle, the Zojirushi coffee makers are now giants in the small home appliance industry.

The Significance of Technology in Our Everyday Lives

96Different technological advances have always boggled the minds of men. But one thing is for sure, technology has always been there to help us in our everyday situations. Just think of how you would get food to stay fresh without the refrigerator. Indeed, technology has given us the power to sustain our rapidly increasing needs in order to survive.

Still not convinced? Here are some specific instances of how technology supports our everyday lives:

Work. In these days, who wouldn’t see a computer in the office? Other fields, such as in construction work, require the use of bulldozers and other equipment to help build those skyscrapers we see today. Different robots are being designed today to help with rescue and military missions to help us have secure lives. Truly, the wonders of technology continue to help in our working activities.

Transportation. Technology helps us if we want to go to different places. Nowadays, it is rare NOT to see cars on the road. Also, there are the new trains powered by electricity, which could travel long distances over a short period of time. Planes help us reach places we could get by on foot. Truly, technology marked its significance in this field.

Communication. There are different means to communicate with our friends and relatives nowadays. From the telephone to our state-of-the-art video call cell phones, technology is always there to help us be in touch with our loved ones. Even the deaf can hear with earpieces. Technology has paved its way through our hearts by letting us communicate with the persons we treasure.

Medical purposes. Medical science is one of the fields that really benefits from technology. It is easier to diagnose internal diseases through the help of certain machines such as the CT scan. It is also possible now to help persons with a failing heart live by attaching pacemakers to the body.

At home. Surely, household appliances are marvels of technology. You wouldn’t want to be wasting time handwashing your clothes when you have your washing machine to do that. You also wouldn’t want to sit in a hot room when an electric fan or air conditioner can cool you down.

Entertainment. Almost every household owns a television or even a radio now. They offer us entertainment in our homes while we relax. Also, there are many computer game consoles out there. Think of the fun and enjoyment you could have with these machines. Not only do we have to enjoy it by ourselves, but it could also turn into a bonding time with your friends and families.

Technology has always been a gift to our lives. It’s only up to us to use it well. If we can get things done faster and better, then it must be a present from the gods, right? But as always, we should never get too dependent on technology, because if ever these gifts fail us, we should always help ourselves strive to live on.
